The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department (WSPR) is pleased to offer Recreational Fall Soccer Leagues for children! WSPR Youth Soccer Leagues provide every child with an opportunity to learn the game, improve their soccer skills, and play in semi-competitive games that are safe and FUN! Our programs serve children ENTERING Grades K-8 in September 2024. WSPR offers two distinct programs:
An instructional program for boys and girls ENTERING Kindergarten and Grades 1 & 2. Participating children in Grades 1 & 2 receive basic soccer fundamentals with a 1-hour weeknight practice (e.g. dribbling, passing, shooting), followed by (2) 1-hour scrimmages on the weekends - (1) Saturday morning & (1) Sunday afternoon vs. another team. Participating children in the Coed Kindergarten League do not have a weeknight practice commitment, they combine their practice & scrimmage together for 1-hour on Saturday mornings & 1-hour on Sunday afternoons.
A semi-competitive program for boys and girls ENTERING Grades 3-8. 1 game on Saturday mornings & 1 game on Sunday afternoons, with a referee at each game. Each team also has one practice on a weeknight. Practices are scheduled by volunteer coaches according to the coaches’ availability. A coach will contact you with more information regarding specific team practice times prior to the start of the season.
Participants are to bring the following items labeled with the child’s name: their own soccer ball, water bottle, soccer cleats (highly recommended)/sneakers, and MUST have shin guards. Uniforms will consist of a team jersey and matching socks.
To avoid being placed on a wait list, REGISTRATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY JULY 19, 2024. Proof of age and residency is required for new participants. Financial Assistance for registration fees is available for qualifying residents of West Springfield.
West Springfield Resident Fee: $50 per player
Non-Resident Fee: $65 per player
